Quick Skillet Mac and Cheese

Photo and Food Styling by Aramael Pena-Alcantara

Half the joy of boxed mac and cheese is its convenience: having to clean only one pan and having dinner on the table (or couch) in less than 30 minutes. With this recipe we wanted to borrow from that classic skillet mac’ to elevate our comfort-food classic with a golden crunchy top, without adding any extra cleanup.

Ingredients

2 Servings

6

Tbsp. butter, divided

1

cup panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)

¼

tsp. kosher salt, plus more

¼

tsp. freshly ground black pepper

1

box (6 oz) The Mac & Cheese Affair's Radiatore & Real Aged Cheddar

¼

cup 2% milk

Preparation

Step 1

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, ¼ tsp. salt, ¼ tsp. black pepper and cook, stirring frequently, until golden brown, about five minutes. Transfer to bowl and wipe out the skillet.

Step 2

Prepare mac & cheese according to package directions, in the skillet. Sprinkle with toasted breadcrumbs, serve warm.

I followed the recipe and then added left-over chopped pork belly and it was amazing.

Really good and creamy. I added some extra cheese, some gruyere, cheddar, and park. Sooooo good 😄.
